The News...

I have 3 new cd’s in the works. “The Deep Fried Funk Society’s” new cd is almost done! We have a few finishing touches and we are there. We are excited because we think the sound is new and fresh. You are the final critic though...We’re excited to see what you think. If you go to the video page you can check out two songs we have up on YouTube right now. “On the Same Page” and “Thanka ‘Bout It”. The cd features The Ben-Jamin Horns and the horn work is delicious! Tasty!
Keep in touch with this site, we will announce when it is done.

I am also in the midst of a cd with a very funky Trio I have together with Lisa Donovan and Harold Allen Jr. called “Forward Falling”. We have just begun on this cd. Lisa is a dynamo, so I can’t wait for you all to check her out! We plan to be done by the end of the year.

I am also going to be doing a cd with an old buddy of mine, Rick Marks. We only have one song going, but we also plan to be done by the end of the year. He is a fantastic singer that can sing anything in any range. I’ll keep you posted on this cd’s progress.

In other news. I have been teaching Funk Bass at Los Angeles College of Music (formerly LAMA - L.A. Music Academy) under the leadership of Jerry Watts for the last 4 years. I love the school and I love teaching...I am off this semester but will be back on for spring, teaching the “Funkdamentals!”

Also I am so blessed to be playing gigs with David Sanborn. I love David. Love his philosophy. Love his playing of course. It is a dream come true and when I hear the sound come out of his horn, I pinch myself and hold back the tears because, I have been listening to him for so long, (Since 1977 to be exact!) and to be standing next to him onstage is such a dream come true...Only goes to show you...continue to dream, continue to put your head down and do the work and Let go & Let God.

II am blessed to be playing the Malbu Cafe on a somewhat regular basis, thanks to Val, Berto and Dillon! So please drop in, on a Saturday or Sunday from 12 to 3 and catch some easy grooves and classic songs we all love! And oh yeah, the food is off the chain! See a few pics in the sidebar of the Malibu atmosphere.

I have the Smooth Jazz Cruise 2015 week two coming up the first week of March and the week one in January was a blast! So much good music and so many artists playing together in ways you would never see on land. If you’ve never been..you are missing out! Try to make it one of these years. You won’t be sorry. It’s the vacation of all vacations, trust me!

Ok thats all the news for now...
Please check back!
